PANCA DA GIARDINO FAI DA TE // D.I.Y. GARDEN BENCH

 

Rieccomi qui, torno dopo molto tempo sul blog con un progetto fai da te fatto interamente con materiali di recupero che avevo già. Una panca da giardino in blocchi di cemento e legno!

L’ispirazione l’ho presa da Pinterest dove ci sono tantissimi progetti con i blocchi,  le motivazione principali sono il costo irrisorio e la resistenza della panca!

Questi blocchi in cemento giacevano dietro casa almeno dagli anni 70, i pali di legno erano avanzati da un altro progetto, le tavole vengono da un vecchio carro.

Ho comprato solo la vernice, la colla e l’impregnante con circa 15 euro. Trovate le istruzioni e le foto del processo nel prossimo post.

Oltre alla soddisfazione di creare la panca da me, mi fa felice l’idea che non dovrò preoccuparmi che arrugginisca (come con quelle di metallo), né che sia troppo piccola o debole per accogliere tre persone adulte come volevo, quando le parti in legno saranno rovinate non sarà un problema sostituirle.

Posso decorarla in modo differente cambiando accessori e colori: cuscini, tappeto, candele, lanterne, luci, con ombrellone, senza, con tenda, ….

Al momento ho riutilizzato un vecchio ombrellone blu per proteggere dagli aghi di pino chi sta seduto, ho aggiunto un tappeto da esterno preso da Casashop a 5 euro, riutilizzato 4 cuscini da sedia spaiati unendoli in una fodera fatta con una tenda Ikea avanzata.

After a long time I am back on the blog with a DIY project made entirely with recycled materials, that I already had. A garden bench made of concrete blocks and wood!

The inspiration comes from Pinterest, where there are lots of projects with blocks, my motivation is made of the derisory cost and the resistance of the bench!

These concrete blocks were behind my house from the 70s, the wooden poles remained from another project, the boards come from an old wagon.

I only bought the paint, the glue and the color for about 15 euros. You will find the instructions with pictures in the next post.

I’m satisfied because it’s a diy project and  I am happy I will not worry about  rust (as for a metal bench).

 It is enough large and sturdy to accommodate three adults and when the wooden parts will be ruined it will not be a problem to replace them.

I can decorate it differently changing accessories and colors: cushions, carpet, candles, lanterns, lights, with umbrella, without, with curtains....

Right now I reused an old blue beach umbrella (to protect me from pine needles), I added an outdoor carpet bought at Casashop for 5 euros, reused 4 unpaired chair cushions joining them in a lining made with an advanced Ikea curtain.

Anch’io come altri sono rimasta un po’ delusa dal catalogo Ikea 2020, lo confesso; però man a mano che escono le novità sul sito trovo elementi nelle nuove collezioni che mi entusiasmano: nel catalogo non sono state valorizzate. Colori che amo, linee pulite e semplici, materiali e forme che riconosco!

I must confess that, like many others, I didn’t feel inspired by new Ikea catalogue this year; but now that new items come on the site I like the new collections.  Colors I love, simple and clean lines, materials and shapes that I can recognize!

PICCOLE SCRIVANIE // SMALL DESKS

L’autunno è arrivato all’improvviso dalle mie parti! Da un giorno all’altro siamo passati dal caldo intenso oltre i 30 gradi ai  13 gradi la mattina, settembre è decisamente iniziato e domani cominciano le scuole!

I miei figli tornano alla loro routine e di conseguenza anch’io…. Il grande va in seconda media e il piccolo in quarta elementare, è arrivato anche per lui il momento di avere una scrivania tutta sua, così già dall’inverno scorso ho iniziato a pensare al suo angolo studio.

Autumn is just arrived here! Yesterday very hot weather  and this morning  quite cold!

September has started and tomorrow kids will go back to school!

My sons go back to their daily routine and I will follow them…. The first one starts the second year of the middle school, and the second one his fourth year in the elementary school, the time has arrived to have his own desk, last winter I started to think to his new corner.

D.I.Y. LAMPSHADE WITH QUOTES

Uno dei vantaggi delle lampadine led è che non si scaldano, o meglio che si scaldano così poco da non essere potenziali fonti di incendio.

Questo mi ha dato un’idea: e se provassi a fare un paralume basic ma personalizzato?

Ho a casa una base per lampada comprata alla Sme (tipo questa di Ikea), alla quale inizialmente pensavo di abbinare un paralume in vetro come questo.

Led light bulbs have many plus, one is that they don’t become hot,  so don’t generate fires.

This has given an idea to me : what if I try to create a basic d.i.y. customized lampshade? 

I have a lamp base from Sme (similar to this one from Ikea), originally bought to match to a glass lampshade similar to this one.

Oggi finalmente dopo un mese di pioggia splende il sole, speriamo duri!  Mi sono resa conto che questa mancanza totale di primavera mi ha fatto dimenticare di mostrarvi le foto fatte ai reparti giardino e lampade di Ikea nella mia ultima visita. Rimedio subito!

Solo in Ikea potevano costruire una struttura di terrazzi sovrapposti. Non è bella?

Fra le collezioni di mobili da esterno mi sono innamorata del divano Brusen, e mi piacerebbe molto usarlo per un restyling di un angolo del mio giardino…..

Le lampade mi piacciono tutte, soprattutto la base Baralund; ne ho una simile bianca che presto vi mostrerò in un piccolo progetto D.I.Y.

Finally today the sun shines again after one month of rain!  I realize that this lack of spring made me forget to show you the pictures from Ikea garden and lamps sectors during my last visit. Let me remedy!

Only in Ikea they can build a structure with balconies!  Isn’t it beautiful?

Among the garden furniture collections I felt in love with Brusen sofa, and I will like to use it in a refresh project in my garden.

I love all lamps, most of all Baralund base; I have a white very similar one and soon you will see it in a little D.I.Y. project.

Do you want to come to Ikea with me?

During my last visit I’ve found my favourite colours BLUE, YELLOW and RED everywhere.

I like very much the new collections ÖVERALLT, TÄNKVÄRD and SOMMAR2019! However, many other new items captured my attention, from carpet to red seats. Then there are lights and garden items, but about these ones wait next post. Today I tell you what I’ve bought for myself. Are you ready?

Qui abbiamo avuto qualche giorno di primavera anticipata e ora stiamo sopportando la pioggia. Pasqua è alle porte e qualche decorazione e nuova piantina sono arrivate proprio con il primo sole di primavera, che ora mi manca!

Here we had few days of spring, but actually it’s rainy. Easter is next week and some decor and new plants arrived with the first spring sun, that now we miss!

TOP IN VETRO PER MOBILE TV // GLASS TOP FOR TV STAND

Negli ultimi due mesi ho completato il mobile del salotto, ho comprato una nuova scrivania, ho disegnato un oggetto decorativo, ho fatto un viaggio di 4 giorni…andiamo con ordine. Ci vorranno più post per raccontarvi tutto.

Riparto da dove vi avevo lasciati: l’ikeahack del salotto. Il vetro è arrivato e sono molto soddisfatta dell’effetto finale. Giudicate voi dalle foto! E’ un unico pezzo su misura, con i fori per il passaggio cavi e verniciato di bianco. Sporge leggermente davanti e sui lati e va in appoggio al muro dietro.

Costo finale del mobile, accessori interni, aggiunte per personalizzare, vetro: circa 500 €.

During the last 2 months I’ve completed my living room tv stand, I’ve bought a new desktop, I've designed a decor object, I’ve made a 4-days-trip…more than one post will be necessary to tell you about all these things.

.

Let’s start from the living room ikeahack. The glass top has arrived and I’m very happy with the result. What about you? Look at the pictures! It is one customized piece, with holes for cables and white painted. It is a little bit larger in front and on the sides, backward it reaches the wall.

Final cost of furniture, inner accessories, added pieces to customize, glass top: approx. 500 €.

2019 NEWS!

BUON 2019!  Avete fatto un bilancio del 2018? Io sì e se riguardo lo slogan che avevo scelto l’anno scorso mi sento di averlo seguito, ho aumentato il tempo dedicato a me stessa, i miei sogni e le mie passioni.

Per il 2019 ho scelto la frase che vedete qui sopra sulla lavagna, ho scelto l’ottimismo e la fiducia.

HAPPY 2019!  Did you think about how 2018 has gone? I feel that I followed my starting intention: increasing the time dedicated to myself, my dreams and my passions.

For this new 2019 I’ve chosen this concept:

Com’è cominciato il vostro nuovo anno?

IKEAHACK: Stuva + Besta TV stand and media storage

Come promesso ecco i dettagli del mio progetto per il salotto, è un IKEAHACK per 3 motivi:

·        perché combina strutture e cassetti della serie Stuva (profondi 50 cm, 10 cm più del Besta!) e ante della serie Besta Vassviken e Glassvik;

·        perché nella parte sinistra del mobile le ante Besta non sono montate con cerniere ma usate come frontali, cioè attaccate direttamente ai cassetti Stuva, spingendo l’anta si apre anche il cassetto più basso;

·        perché ho fissato un’anta come pannello di copertura sul fianco destro della composizione per dare al mobile un aspetto più uniforme, è bastato accorciarla.

As promised here follow the details of my living room project, it is an IKEAHACK for 3 reasons:

·     combines structures and drawers from Stuva series (50 cm depth, 10 cm more than Besta!) with Besta Vassviken and Glassvik doors;

·     on the left part, the Besta doors are not fixed with hinges but used as drawer front, fixed directly to the drawer, pushing the door the lower drawer opens;

·     one door has been cut and fixed on the right end side of the stand as covering panel, this gives the stand a more finish style.

OFFICE TEA CORNER

Ho deciso di creare un angolo dedicato al tè sulla mia scrivania!

.

Tornata al lavoro dopo le vacanze non volevo più bere caffè e tè dalla macchinetta dell’ufficio, non facevano per niente bene al mio stomaco.

.

Questo tea corner potrebbe occasionalmente servire anche per il caffè, per ora infatti ho solo quello solubile, ma posso sempre aggiungere la mia moka elettrica!!

.

La mia postazione di lavoro è grande, comprende 4 scrivanie; qualche anno fa la ditta per cui lavoro ha ingrandito gli uffici, io ho potuto disegnare le postazioni di lavoro per me e i miei 12 colleghi, nell’open space che condividiamo. Quindi non è stato un problema trovare un po di spazio, qui vi mostro il prima e il dopo dell’angolo tè.

I have created a tea corner on my desk!

Back to work after the holiday I’ve chosen to avoid drinking coffee or tea from the bevarage vending machine,  they are not good for my stomach.

.

This tea corner can occasionally offer coffee, now I have only instant coffee, but I can add my electric moka for espresso!!

.

My work station is big, it has 4 desks; a few years ago the company I work for enlarged the offices, I could design the work stations for me and my 12 colleagues in our open space. So I had no problem to add this tea corner, here you can see the before&after.

CESTINO ESTENDIBILE // EXTENSIBLE BASKET

Secondo post sugli articoli d’arredamento di moda che si ripetono nei cataloghi dei brands più comuni. Forse ne farò una serie vera e propria, qui trovate il primo.

Oggi menziono un oggetto che alla prima occhiata non mi ha subito catturata, forse perché non ne avevo capito la duplice forma, ma poi mi ha convinta.

Il cestino estendibile, o come molto lo chiamano tailandese.

Nella versione base più semplice può essere chiuso e sembrare quasi una ciotola, oppure aperto e usato come contenitore, borsa, coprivaso, …

Ma soprattutto molti brands lo propongono in più misure e si presta a decorazioni varie: con ricami, pom-pom, nappine e dipinto!

.

Onestamente lo vedo bene come base per un fai-da-te, anche perché il più economico costa meno di 10 euro, e le versioni decorate costano fino a 4 volte di più!

Let’s talk about the extensible rattan basket, also called Thai-basket.

The simplest version can be closed, like a bowl; or can be open and used as storage, bag, plant pot,….

Many brands offer various sizes and it can be decorated with embroidery, pom-pom, tassels or painted!

I consider it a good item for do-it-yourself projects, the cheapest one costs less than 10 Euros, and the decorated versions can reach 4 times this price!

UN MESE SENZA BLOG // A MONTH WITHOUT BLOGGING

Rieccomi dopo più di un mese di pausa… se qualcuno si è chiesto che fine avessi fatto, vi faccio un piccolo riassunto: 3 feste di compleanno, trasferte sportive (dei figli), inconvenienti tecnici, vacanza al mare con fuoco di sant’Antonio annesso: quindi niente sole, sabbia o bagni (sigh!), lavoro, impegni vari e stanchezza mi hanno impedito di postare come avrei voluto.

Eppure ci sono stati diversi spunti interessanti: qualche gita all’ikea e qualche new entry a casa mia (vedi foto panca e tavolino), nuovi negozi di design e mercatino dell’artigianato (vedi post successivo).

I’m back after more than a month…if someone is asking why I’ve been far from the blog for so long, I try to explain it in few words:  3 birthday parties, kids’ sporting trips, technical problems, a sea holiday with shingles disease which means: no sun, no sand, no sea water (sigh!), work and fatigue made hard for me blogging.

Anyway some inspiration came to me: trips to Ikea with new items for me (refer to bench and coffee table pictures), new design shops and interesting craft market (read next post).

NEWS DALLE CAMERETTE 2/2 // KIDS BEDROOMS NEWS 2/2

A proposito dei cambiamenti nelle camere dei bambini: per preparare spazio alla futura scrivania del più piccolo, il baule doveva trovare un'altra collocazione. E sapete dov’è finito? Nell’altra camera, quella più grande del primogenito. Non avrei potuto metterlo in nessun’altra stanza, è piuttosto grande, e poi dentro ci sono vestiti per i bambini che aspettano l’età giusta per essere utilizzati. E un giorno spero servirà per i giocattoli.

Per farlo stare avevo ipotizzato diverse soluzioni. La più semplice ha risolto il problema: il baule ha sostituito la libreria, diventando una sorta di comodino-piano di appoggio; e girando la libreria expedit in verticale ho potuto posizionarla vicino alla scrivania sull’altro lato della stanza. Devo dire che libreria e scrivania vicine hanno più senso, a settembre quando il grande andrà alle medie le scatole e i giochi lasceranno spazio a nuovi libri e quaderni.

About the modifications to both kids bedrooms: to create space for the upcoming desk of my second son, the trunk had to go somewhere else. Where?

It is now in my oldest son’s room; the trunk is too big for any other space in my home, moreover it contains kids clothes waiting to be used at the right age. Maybe someday it will be full of toys.

I found more than one solution. The simplest one solves the problem: the trunk replaces the bookshelf and serves as nightstand and support surface; the expedit bookshelf, turned vertical, goes near the desk on the other side of the room. The bookshelf near the desk makes more sense, next September my son will go to middle school, so boxes and toys will be replaced with new books.
